1. Sir Donald Bradman

Sir Donald Bradman, born on August 27, 1908, was an iconic Australian cricketer widely regarded as the greatest batsman in the history of cricket. Bradman was born in Cootamundra, a town in the Southern Tablelands region of NSW. He played international cricket for Australia from 1928 to 1948, achieving numerous records and accolades during his career.

2. Miles Franklin

Miles Franklin, born on October 14, 1879, was an Australian writer and feminist. She was born in Talbingo which is located in the Southern Tablelands. Franklin is best known for her novel "My Brilliant Career" published in 1901, which tells the story of a young girl growing up in rural Australia. The book is considered a classic in Australian literature.

3. Dame Mary Gilmore

Dame Mary Gilmore, born on August 16, 1865, was an Australian writer and social activist. She was born in Goulburn, a town situated in the Southern Tablelands. Gilmore is known for her poetry and prose, capturing the experiences and struggles of rural Australians. She played a significant role in advocating for women's rights and social justice.

4. Andrew Inglis Clark

Andrew Inglis Clark, born on February 24, 1848, was an Australian politician, lawyer, and judge. He was born in Hobart, Tasmania, but spent some time in the Southern Tablelands during his career. Clark played a vital role in the drafting and adoption of the Australian Constitution. He championed progressive reforms, including the protection of individual rights.

5. John Kerr

Sir John Kerr, born on September 24, 1914, was an Australian barrister and judge who served as the 18th Governor-General of Australia. Although he was not born in the Southern Tablelands, Kerr owned properties in the region, including a historic homestead near Bowral. He made significant contributions to Australian constitutional law during his career.

6. Frank Rusconi

Frank Rusconi, born on January 15, 1865, was a notable Italian-Australian stone artisan and builder. He migrated to Australia and settled in Cooma, within the Southern Tablelands. Rusconi is famously known for creating the "Marble Masterpiece," a detailed model of Rome's St. Peter's Basilica, using various types of marble. This masterpiece is located in the town of Tumut.

7. Dr. Charles Lowe

Dr. Charles Lowe, born on September 14, 1828, was a prominent Australian scientist and physician. He was born in Lower Boro, near Taralga in the Southern Tablelands. Dr. Lowe made significant contributions to Australian geology, particularly in mapping and understanding the geological formations of the region. He was also involved in exploring and documenting the flora and fauna of the area.
